Opening Words

As you light a candle:
Why do we light this candle?
To remember that Jesus is with us.

Call to Worship:
The Lord Jesus who calls us to worship him today is the same Jesus who refused the temptation to worship the evil one. Rather than receive the glorious kingdoms of this world, he endured the shame of the cross,  and today is Lord of lords and King of kings. Now are gathered in him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, glory, and power.  With the saints of all ages we say,

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom
and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

—based on Colossians 2:3; Revelation 5:12

Songs

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, pour out upon us wisdom and understanding, that, being taught by you in Holy Scripture, our hearts and minds may be opened to receive all that leads to life and holiness. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Song:

Parting Prayer: God go before you to lead you, God go behind you to protect you, God go beneath you to support you, God go beside you to befriend you. Do not be afraid. May the blessing of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be upon you. Do not be afraid.  Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Amen.
