The regional Cadet boys’ clubs gathered together at Chapel Farms, outside of Palmerston, on Saturday, January 28th. The weather and conditions were perfect for the annual Snow Derby. In the morning, the teams competed in compass reading, First Aid, shelter building (knots and lashes) and the sled racing. This year’s mystery stations were target shooting and nail driving. After a lunch break of chili, buns and chocolate milk came the big event. Each group received their bag of firewood, the whistle blew, and the competition began. Which team could build a fire, and get their pot of water to boil first?
At the end of the day, trophies were handed out for the various events, and Palmerston won the overall trophy. It was a great day of team building, competition and fun.
