We’re a community of people who are seeking to follow Jesus, to embrace His kingdom, and to reach out in love to the community of Wingham and surrounding area.
If you are just beginning to think about spirituality, you’ll find that Maitland River Community Church is a place where you can ask questions and find answers.
If you’re looking to follow Jesus in the company of others, you’ll find that authentic relationships are core to our ministries. So welcome… we trust you’ll find yourself at home with us and come to know just how deeply you are loved by God, and by us!
As a newcomer to MRCC, you probably have some questions about what to expect. Perhaps you might be investigating the claims of Christianity. Maybe you are a little hesitant to step back into church after some bad experiences in the past. We want to make sure that there are no unexpected surprises for you when you come to MRCC.
The following is a list of Frequently Asked Questions that newcomers ask:
Is there a dress code?
Please wear some sort of clothing! Most worship service attendees dress casually. Blue jeans, cotton pants, or a suit and tie… the choice is yours.
What about my children?
You can decide whether you want your children to stay with you during the worship service. Depending on their age, we have room for them in one of our children’s ministry areas: Wee Care, River Buddies, River Kidz or River Pals.
Am I going to be asked for money?
Giving is completely optional. We pass around an offering bag midway through the service. You are free to pass the bag by without putting anything in. The offering that is taken is to support charitable causes outside of MRCC. (e.g. North Huron Food Bank, Youth Unlimited North Huron, World Missions). The operating expenses of MRCC are paid for by the members.
How will I know when to stand up and when to sit down?
Not knowing when to stand up and when to sit down can be a bit unnerving the first time you come to a church service. The worship leaders will let you know when to stand up and when to sit down.
Will I need to bring a Bible?
You can bring a Bible if you like, but you don’t have to. Many of the Bible verses used by the pastor will be on the screen.
What kind of music can I expect?
We have song leaders with a live band. Our worship style would be classified as contemporary. We enjoy singing. You are welcome to join in the singing, or to just listen and read the words on the screen.
Will I be asked to wear a Visitor name tag or will I be singled out as a visitor?
We won’t put you on the spot. You’ll be able to keep as low a profile as you like. Your comfort is important to us. Refreshments are served after the worship service to which you are welcome to join and fellowship with us if you like.
