Church Camping

Church camping was a great success despite the colder weather this year.  The plus – no mosquitos! Thirteen trailers/tents occupied the site, and twenty boats were in the water on Saturday morning. The kids played games, biked, and had a blast from morning to night! There was a potluck/pork roast on Saturday evening, and Josh and Steve were the corn hole tournament champions. Campfire gatherings were full of good fellowship and lots of laughs. And on Sunday morning everyone watched the…

Big Give

After hours of collecting, gathering, unboxing, re-boxing, sorting and displaying, the Big Give was ready! Saturday brought beautiful weather, and by early morning the parking lot was full of lots of treasures. And everything was free! Good stuff to be found outside and inside. A free BBQ lunch was also served. Jan and Karen and lots of volunteers were around to welcome and help all who came out to find something special. It was a great success!

Pentecost Sunday

On June 8th, with the worldwide church, we celebrated Pentecost. This is the day the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples, as we read in Acts 2. Maria and the worship band started our service with singing, and Tobi and Amber gave an opening prayer together. Pastor Bart preached on the Acts 2 passage, challenging us to live and serve in the power of the Holy Spirit. Maria and Tobi, as youth leaders, called the grade 12 youth forward. They…

New Board

Our new board was installed in May. We welcome Albert Teeninga, Jan Blackwell, Stephen VanderKlippe, and Murray Ritsema as our new elders, and Doug Kuyvenhoven and Matt Wilkins as the new deacons. After the charges to them and to the congregation, we were invited to pray over the new board. We pray God’s blessing and equipping on each leader as they take on this responsibility. A special thank you to Mike Hill and Karen Bridges for their faithful service on…

Cadet Cub Car Night

The Cadet boys’ club always wrap up their season with the Cub Car Racing night. Each boy creates a cub car, which is judged on appearance and workmanship, and then is entered in the race. The boys also receive prizes based on points earned during the year. It is always an exciting, loud evening, totally enjoyed by the boys, dads, judges and leaders! Thank you to Murray and Ron and all the counsellor leaders for making this a great year…

Flash Mob Raking 2025

It was a rather cool and drizzly Saturday but a group of hardy workers gathered for Flash Mob Raking in Wingham! Everyone met at 8:30 for coffee and the traditional group picture, and then two teams set out. They raked 16 lawns and the lawn owners were very appreciative. Even in the rain, everyone had fun working together. Afterwards, they enjoyed a pizza lunch, and some good fellowship. Thank you to Karen for organizing the morning, and for Betty in…

GEMS Sunday

GEMS Sunday is always a special day to celebrate our GEMS girls’ program! The Youth band added to the day by leading in the songs of worship. The GEMS presented their theme song, and another favourite song with actions, and then led us through a litany on their theme. Several girls shared with us the things that they loved and enjoyed about the GEMS nights. The theme this year was “Transformed” from Romans 12:1,2 and Pastor Bart preached on inner…

Good Friday

We gathered with the congregation from the Hutton Heights Pentecostal Church, to mark Good Friday.  Pastor Bart welcomed everyone, and Maria called us to worship.   After a couple of opening songs, she introduced us to a reading of Psalm 22.  Bill and Albert led the reading, and the choir added to the words with the song “What Wondrous Love Is This?” Pastor Jason from Hutton Heights brought us the message – It Is Finished.  He spoke of what Jesus’…

A Sunday To Celebrate

Professions of Faith and Baptisms We had a full house on a spring Sunday in April to celebrate God’s work in people’s lives! Pastor Bart welcomed everyone to this day of celebration, and the band led us in opening songs of praise. We heard wonderful, encouraging testimonies from Seth, Alyn, Charis, Mariah, Julia, Connor, William and Caleb, as they made their Professions of Faith. Tyler and Inge prayed over the group, as family, friends, and church leaders gathered around. Then…

Gems Fun Night

The GEMS held one of their special event evenings – Favourite Him Night!  Thirty-three girls arrived with their favourite him, and a hammer! Dads, brothers, grandpas and friends arrived to tables covered in craft paper, and piles of wood for everyone. Emily and Lindsay welcomed everyone and soon the sound of hammering and sawing filled the room. They were building beautiful birdhouses! So fun! Everyone later enjoyed some delicious snacks and some good competition in Minute to Win It games.…

Cadet Sunday

On a cool Sunday in March we gathered together for Worship and to celebrate our Cadets.  Pastor Bart welcomed us, and Maria led us in opening songs of worship.  Dylan and Douglas carried the flags as they led the boys into the auditorium.   The boys took their places on the stage, and the counsellors went through their opening exercises, of the motto, verse, pledges and code.  It was great to hear Silas, Aaron, Micah, Jacob and James sharing about…
