Core Values
As an expression of the love of Jesus we believe the following core values to be central to what our church ought to be. We also believe that when these core values are implemented and followed, our church will be a growing, healthy community of Christ followers. Therefore we value:
Spiritually Vibrant Worship – Spirit-inspired, God-glorifying, life-transforming
Col 3:161 “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
Biblical Authority – God’s Word speaks into all of life, the basis of grace and truth.
2 Tim 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Genuine Prayer – key to Spirit-empowered (enabled) life & ministry
Eph 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
Life-long Spiritual Growth – developing and using our gifts as we follow Jesus
Eph 4:11-13 “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
Loving Relationships – caring for and supporting each other, as individuals and in small groups
Gal. 6:2 “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Generosity – joyfully giving our time, money, and energy
2 Cor. 8:7 “But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”
Hospitality – welcoming everyone into our church family because everyone matters to God
Heb 13:1-2 “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”
Authenticity – rooted in God’s love, sharing our lives openly and honestly before God and each other.
1 Thess 2:3-4 “For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you. On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.”
Reaching Out – inspired by love, living as witnesses, serving our community through words and action
1 Jn 3:18 (NLT) “Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”
Matt 25:36 “I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
Spirit-Enabled Leadership – equipping and encouraging Christ-like, servant leaders
Mark 10:43-45 “… whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
